A Few Letters from our Troops
Miss Acevedo,
Good morning. I am a deployed Air Force member and just received a care package today with a picture of you with your students included inside. I just wanted to take a little time out to say thank you for the thoughtfulness you and your students have shown me and others like me. Being deployed away from home and family is never easy but with choices comes sacrifices and my choice to join the United States Air Force (21 years ago exactly yesterday) was one that I knew would find me making many sacrifices to do what I love which is serve and protect our great nation. I as well as others do it willingly and I'm proud to know that there are people like you and your students out there that recognize the many sacrifices we make each day. I thank you all from the very bottom of my heart and appreciate the time you've taken out of your important day to think of us. Thank you William B. Orenic Intermediate!!!!!!!!! v/r OJ JOHNSON, MSgt, USAF PERSCO Team Chief Gratefully, ERIC R. MADDOX, Maj, USAF JSOAD-BF/CC Ms. Acevado, My name is Darrell Eltringham and I am a Chief in the Navy currently on deployment on the USS ANZIO. Today we received a few Operation Care Packages with letters, snacks, and other items from your school. I just wanted to extend my thanks and gratitude to your students at William B Orenic Intermediate. I know that my Sailors enjoyed them. We are Cruiser with a crew of approximately 340. We’ve been in the Arabian Gulf now for some time and aren’t expected to be home for a while. Our ship’s namesake is dedicated to the Battle of the Anzio from WWII and we were recently in the news for providing aid to the Sailors who were detained by Iran. Again thank you supporting the troops and have a wonderful day. VR, CTRC(IDW/SW/AW) Darrell Eltringham USS ANZIO (CG-68) |
Thank you for the care packages you sent, they were great! When the care packages arrived, everybody was surprised and excited. Our team here is relatively small and we live and work in an area that has limited access to modern amenities. So, getting the packages and notes you sent was a big morale boost to the whole team. It was fun to look at the artwork on the boxes and it was really cool to read the individual notes, many of which were shared among the team. We truly appreciate the effort and care that all of you put into the care packages. It means a lot to the whole team, especially during this time when they are away from family and friends during the holiday season. Thank you, I especially enjoyed your joke! Have a great Thanksgiving! Hi my name is Cpl. March I've been in the United States marines for 8 years. I'd like to thank you and your students for the goodies we got. I am deployed in Iraq right now. But even when I was deployed in Afghanistan I didn't get care packages like this. Thank you all |
